Meeting Simon Vaughan Winter

by Mike Goldmark (07 Oct 2003)

A roadside stop in a Herefordshire village to investigate what I took to be a second hand bookshop led me to what turned out to be the studio of Simon Vaughan Winter and my first glimpse of his Constructions.
I rarely travel so I find these chance encounters particularly thrilling. Here was work that I wanted to show – no deliberation needed; just the wonderful immediacy of that gut feeling that short-circuits the decision making process. The three finished pieces that I saw on that first meeting were enough for me to know that I had stumbled on something special. Nineteen more have followed. This website shows Simon Vaughan Winter’s first solo exhibition and Goldmarkart is proud to be its host.
